HAMBURG ECONOMIC DIALOG

For this series of events, NIT invites entrepreneurs and managers from small and medium-sized enterprises to speak about challenges such as industry 4.0, 3D printing, and IT security. Speakers from science, industry, and politics provide the ideas and discussion. This networking meeting requires companies and their managers to stay focused on the big picture when facing disruptive changes in order to recognize and seize opportunities. The goal is to have an inspiring dialog regarding the keynote presentation on best practices for success between the speaker and participants alike. The Hamburg Economic Dialogue takes place once every quarter.

THEMES OF THE SERIES

FOURTH HAMBURG ECONOMIC DIALOGUE: THE MAGIC OF START-UPS

About you, Heute In Hamburg or Applike - numerous established companies such as Otto, Haspa or Gruner+Jahr rely on in-house start-ups. Why?
This will be the topic at the fourth Hamburg Business Dialog on "The Magic of Start-ups - Why big corporations snatch up Founders" on 29 January 2018 at 7 pm in the Greenhouse Innovation Lab.

The new digital world is becoming increasingly complex and fast moving. In the digital world, it is important for companies to keep up and to remain flexible and agile at all times. Many of them are looking for new ways out of the existing structures and defined processes to have flexible reactions to changes and innovations.

Large companies and the start-up scene meet each other

Many established companies are therefore looking for more agile dinghies - the start-ups. Two poles meet, the conservatives from the big corporations and the digital natives from the start-up scene. And with them supposedly different cultural approaches and leadership styles.

How do these two worlds come together and how can the "newcomers" cooperate with established companies and corporations?

Can a start-up company be integrated into a group of companies?

We would like to discuss this with our guests. Jonas Thiemann, CEO & Co-Founder of the start-up AppLike GmbH (a Gruner + Jahr Company) and Nele Schön, Head of Training & Development at Gruner + Jahr, will give exciting impressions on how the integration of a start-up into a coporate group can be successful. Jens Uehlecke, Managing Director of the Greenhouse Innovation Lab and Prof. Dr. Christian Lüthje, Head of the Institute for Innovation Marketing TUHH, will also be present.

Our guests on the podium:

  • Jens Uehlecke, Managing Director, Greenhouse Innovation Lab, Gruner + Jahr GmbH & Co KG
  • Jonas Thiemann, CEO & Co-Founder AppLike GmbH - a 100% owned Gruner + Jahr company
  • Nele Schön, Head of Training & Development, Gruner + Jahr GmbH & Co KG
  • Prof. Dr. Christian Lüthje, TUHH Head of the Institute for Innovation Marketing, Academic Director at the StartupDock, Module Manager at NIT for the Track Entrepreneurial Management

Moderation: Verena Fritzsche, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management gGmbH

We cordially invite you to bring your perspectives and questions to the round table. After the discussion you can have a chat with our podium guests over snacks and drinks.
