Strong start with steel: ArcelorMittal awards scholarship

Candidates watch out: The steel group ArcelorMittal Hamburg GmbH will award a scholarship for prospective Master students at the NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management. In the double degree program of the NIT and the Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH) students complete engineering studies and an MBA program in Technology Management at the same time. With this scholarship, ArcelorMittal Hamburg wants to support high-potentials and cover the tuition fees at the NIT for an applicant (m/f). The studies begin at the beginning of October 2018. Applications are now being accepted.

Excellent preparation for management positions

Since 2008, the transnational company ArcelorMittal Hamburg has regularly awarded scholarships for NIT. “ArcelorMittal has a partnership with the NIT, because it gives us the opportunity to select and to corporate with highly talented students,” says Lutz Bandusch, CEO of ArcelorMittal Hamburg. “The combination of two masters in a quite short time gives a good preparation for future leadership positions because these students have skills on the technical side as well as on the business side. Nowadays, this is exactly what companies ask for.”

Versatile insights into the corporate world

Marcel Bengs, an NIT student and scholarship holder, recommends a connection with the Hamburg steel giant. The 25-year-old German enjoys the versatility of his tasks and the good working atmosphere at his sponsor company. “The steel industry encompasses many different fields of research, such as materials science, mechanics, process technology and production management," says Marcel Bengs. “ArcelorMittal Hamburg GmbH provides a deep insight into both technical and economic challenges. In addition, the company offers global development opportunities and a pleasant corporate culture."

Who can apply?

This year, the company is particularly interested in prospective Master's students from the fields of Information & Communication Systems, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, Materials Technology, Electrical Engineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Energy Technology and Computer Science Engineering. In addition, well-qualified candidates will have: software and programming skills, good German language skills (at least level B1), an independent and structured way of working, as well as good communication and presentation skills.
