WHICH DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

Here's a list of all the documents you will need for your application.

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Study certificates and transcripts (for applicants from China, Mongolia and Vietnam plus APS upon enrollment)
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Statement of purpose
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Proof of work experience (if applicable)

Curriculum Vitae

Bachelor's degree certificate

Bachelor's degree certificate or equivalent, including your aggregate mark or grade point average. If your final degree certificate is not yet available, you need to submit an official provisional degree certificate or an official letter of your registrar, dean or academic supervisor, listing the remaining subjects and, if possible, the prospective grades as well as the prospective final grade average.

Transcript of record

Complete university transcript of record (semester mark sheets), listing your subjects and grades. Official explanation of the university grading system

Proof of English language proficiency

Please note that all applicants whose native language is not English must submit a valid proof of proficiency in English, even though English might be an official language in their home country and even though their previous education might have been conducted in English language. Valid means that any certificate may not be older than two years. Candidates must prove their proficiency in English by one of the following tests:

  • a TOEFL score report. The minimum TOEFL score for a successful application is 90 (internetbased) and 577 paper-based. The TUHH institution code is 8165, a department code is not required. TUHH does only accept the internet-based and paper-based tests! TOEFL ITP will not be accepted!

Statement of purpose

The statement of purpose (max. two pages) should include your reasons for undertaking graduate work in the chosen field of engineering at TUHH, your motivation to pursue the additional technology management program at the NIT and your future career plans. If you want to apply for one of the industrial scholarships, please specify in your statement of purpose which scholarship you want to be considered for and give reasons why you are interested in the specific sponsoring company. Please only choose one company (if your academic profile matches more than one scholarship program, the NIT Admissions Team may ask you to submit an additional Statement of Purpose at a later time).

2 Letters of recommendation

The letters of recommendation should be issued by faculty members acquainted with the applicant's work in the major area of undergraduate study. If that work occurred some time ago, recommendations from those supervisors familiar with the applicant's professional performance are acceptable as well. Please upload the letters of recommendation in one pdf. Referees may also send the letters of recommendation directly to the NIT (admissions@bitte nicht bespammennithh.de). In that case, please instruct the referees to indicate your name and your TUHH application number in the subject heading of the email. Please leave the upload field empty, if you do not have your letters of recommendation yet or if your referee wants to submit the document directly to the NIT.

  • The admission process at the NIT is conducted by an admission committee based on the documents supplied with your application and by a personal interview.
  • Applying for the MBA/Master’s program at the NIT does not bias your chances of admission to one of the MSc programs at the TUHH.

Depending on whether you choose to apply for a German or an International MSc at TUHH, there will be some differences in the application process. In particular, the application deadlines are different. Read the following instructions carefully.

The following cases might apply:

I. You are already enrolled/accepted at the TUHH

II. You want to combine an international MSc at TUHH with an MA/MBA in Technology Management at the NIT

III. You want to combine a German MSc at TUHH with an MA/MBA in Technology Management at the NIT

  • Before applying to the international Master programs an online preliminary assessment test ("pre-check") of your academic qualifications is required. Please select the MSc program of your choice during the pre-check. The portal opens on December 1, 2017. Here's the pre-check.

STEP 2: RECEIVE THE LINK FOR THE APPLICATION PORTAL

  • If you have successfully passed the pre-check, you will receive an email from TUHH. The email will include a link to the TUHH online application facility. The online application facility will be enabled on January 1, 2018, and deactivated on February 28, 2018.

STEP 3: SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

  • Follow the link to the TUHH application portal (which has been sent to you after the successful pre-check) and enter your data
  • choose the International MSc program you are applying for
  • select the Double Degree Program by choosing "Master of Science (NIT)" in the drop-down field in the online application facility
  • upload your documents

WHAT'S NEXT?

After you have finished the uploading process please confirm the application. TUHH will then start processing your application and check whether you can be admitted. You should check your TUHH application status regularly.

Once you have been offered admission into the MSc program at TUHH, the NIT Admissions Team will get in touch with you to inform you about the status of your application for the Double Degree Program. At that point (and not earlier), promising candidates will be asked to submit further documents (e.g. a proof of professional experience) and / or are asked to participate in an interview (usually via Skype). Until then, we kindly ask you to refrain from inquiries regarding your application status at the NIT.
